On Saturday 25 May 2019 we welcomed more than 80 visitors to Claremont Fan Court School to celebrate Queen Victoria’s 200th birthday. With three tours running throughout the day, led by alumni and local historian, Pamela Rider, giving an insight into the royal residents that have occupied the Claremont mansion.

Guests were welcomed into the outer hall and able to wander the rooms on the ground floor. Information regarding Queen Victoria’s many visits to Claremont were laid out in the Drawing Room, along with paintings depicting her visits and her birthdays, including her 21st, which was spent at the mansion. Each room included a brief description as to its use over the 66 years that Queen Victoria visited Claremont.

Refreshments were served in the Great Room overlooking the lawns and we were lucky enough to enjoy a bright and sunny day, allowing guests to explore the gardens and take in the Belvedere that can now be seen through the trees thanks to some recent landscaping.

All proceeds from the day go towards the school’s heritage fund which helps with the upkeep of the buildings and grounds.

Many thanks for everyone that attended and for your continued support of Claremont Fan Court School.

We will be opening the school to the public for free on Sunday 15 September 2019 as part of Heritage Open Day. To book onto one of our tours please visit
