In August 2018, former Claremont Fan Court parents Bob & Noelle Delaney visited The Mother Church, the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston,US and were delaighted to discover that one of the tour guides was Claremont Fan Court alumi Oliver Simpson (Class of 2008). Oliver is currently working in the US for a year, as a marketing assistant at the Christian Science Publishing Society, after completing his MA in Journalism at the University of Alabama.
The Mother Church was founded in 1875 by Mary Baker Eddy and is home to The Mary Baker Eddy Library and the world famous Mapparium - a three-story, stained-glass globe. The Mapparium’s three-dimensional perspective of the world of 1935 and is enhanced by an orchestration of words, music, and LED lights which illustrate how ideas have traversed time and geography and changed the world.
If any CFC alumni are visiting Boston before May 2019, Ollie would be happy to take them on a guided tour of the buildings and Mapparium.
The Year 6 performance of Bugsy Malone reignited fond memories for our alumni when nine members from the old Middle School’s 1998 cast joined us at this year’s opening performance.
